Tacit moves into 3D printing

We were considering outsourcing the design and build of our own products but decided to acquire a dual extrusion 3D printer – and will be designing and building our own!

We’ve built prototypes in the past using rapid prototyping or aluminium tooling for injection mouldings but we wanted to speed up the iterative design process, have more control and build things faster and smarter.

We are also now able to offer a design and build prototyping service using simple 3D modelling and 3D printing in either Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) or Poly Lactic Acid (PLA).

We’ve used PLA biomaterials in the past while making 3D bone tissue as it dissolves in the body and forms lactic acid.  We’ve also used ABS which is also a great material to work with – it’s tough, can survive impacts and comes in a vast array of colours.
